Anti-Ageing Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a fantastic way to address deep lines and volume loss. With age, weight loss and a reduction in collagen, there is a rearrangement of fat pads that are present under the skin. Deep fat pads act as a 'scaffolding' and, as the term suggests, losing that scaffolding means there is less support to areas on the face such as the cheeks, lower face, jawline, and chin. So why does that make us look older? Very good question. As those fat pads rearrange, they begin to descend so are no longer able to support the overlying skin. Our filler of choice is the Teoxane RHA range due to their dynamic, longer-lasting and natural results. If you have your own personal preference of filler we are happy to accommodate this.

What are dermal fillers made of?

Dermal fillers are a manufactured form of a naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA). It is a soft gel-like substance that is administered via an injection into the layers of the skin where natural HA and volume has been lost.

How does HA work?

Once injected, the gel goes to work to plump and fill the deep lines and areas of volume loss to restore a more youthful, yet natural appearance. HA loves water and will attract 1,000 times its weight in water. This results in restoring a bounce to the skin and softening deep lines.

Are all HAs the same?

No. At LDR aesthetics, we have in-depth experience and knowledge of dermal fillers. This ensures that the correct strength of dermal filler is used for the appropriate concern. Some dermal fillers will have a greater lifting capacity than others, so understanding how they work is essential in providing the most aesthetically pleasing results. During a free consultation, Lesley will discuss your concerns and will recommend the most appropriate dermal filler for your needs. She will also ensure there are no medical reasons that suggest that dermal filler treatment would be unsuitable for you.

Only premium brand CE marked dermal fillers are used in our clinic and are sourced from licensed pharmacies. We would always recommend consulting an experienced medically trained aesthetic expert for these treatments.

Does Dermal Filler treatment hurt?

Prior to treatment, a local anaesthetic is offered to numb the skin. Dermal fillers also contain a local anaesthetic called Lignocaine. Most people find the procedure very comfortable, and only experience a minor sting. We appreciate that many people can be anxious at first, and for this reason, every effort is made to ensure your comfort. Treatments are never rushed and will all always be taken at your pace.

Are the results of Dermal Filler treatment permanent?

HA dermal fillers are temporary, so will gradually fade over time. Depending on the area treated, you can expect results to last from 6-12 months, and often even longer.

Permanent implants are not used at LDR aesthetics.

Is there any recovery time?

You can go back to normal activities straight after your treatment, although it is worth bearing in mind that bruising may occur. This is temporary and will disappear within a few days. There may also be some slight tenderness and occasional swelling as the dermal fillers settle. For this reason, we recommend avoiding treatment within 2 weeks of an important event.

When will I see the results?

Results are immediate and will improve further over 2 weeks as the filler integrates with your natural tissue and begins to attract hydration.
