Lesions such as moles and skin tags on your face and body can cause quite an annoyance. Jewellery may become snagged on them, or you may just simply not like having them around. These treatments once required a trip to your GP, but as we know, GP appointments are harder to come by. At LDR aesthetics, we have the solution.
Cryotherapy involves the rapid freezing over 2 cycles on benign skin lesions such as Skin Tags, Milia, Cherry Angiomas, Age Spots, Warts and Verrucas. In clinic, we use the CryoPen™ system.
CryoPen™ is an innovative handheld treatment system using advanced compression cooling technology. CryoPen™ is a pen-like instrument which delivers a fine pinpoint spray of liquid nitrous oxide at a constant temperature of minus-127 degrees under high pressure which allows us to work with millimetre precision. This means the nitrous oxide is delivered directly to the treated area and not to the healthy surrounding tissue. Treatment is virtually painless, quick, effective, and safe enough to use on children. It is an ideal solution for the permanent removal of skin lesions and imperfections, with treatments usually taking just 5 to 25 seconds per lesion.
Cryotherapy is safe and effective for any benign lesion, including on your face and even your eyelids.
It can take up to 4 weeks for the unwanted skin tissue to disappear. There is usually scab formation initially, which will fall off in around 3-4 weeks.
As the new skin forms where the lesion once was, the skin colour may be lighter or slightly darker initially. This will gradually fade, and there will be no obvious scar when the skin has fully healed.
Cryotherapy is a virtually painless treatment. There is usually a mild stinging sensation, which may last for a few minutes.
Cryotherapy is safe to use on children, provided they are happy to receive treatment and are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
