Micro needling (Collagen induction Therapy) is another form of bio stimulation. This method differs to injectable treatments as it is performed on the skin, rather than being injected into the skin. This is done using a micro needling pen. The needle depth can be adjusted to target specific skin concerns, i.e scars, but is also gentle enough to be used in the delicate under eye area. During the procedure, tiny needles create channels on the skin. This causes a minor inflammatory response. Our body then springs into action by stimulating fibroblasts to 'come to the rescue'. Increased fibroblast production in turn leads to more collagen production. Over time, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, enlarged pores and even stretch marks can dramatically improve.

Clients often report that the results are very much worth any discomfort that may be experienced. The procedure itself is relatively quick.
While one treatment will certainly give you glowing skin, it is necessary to have a course of micro needling treatments (4 weeks apart) to notice any long-term improvement for acne scarring and stretch marks.
While micro needling is very safe, it is not suitable for anyone with active acne or open wounds. Caution is needed if you suffer from keloid scarring. This treatment is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
It is common to have redness to your skin after treatment. It is often described as a feeling of being wind burnt. Its not an unpleasant feeling, just very warm and glowing. The redness and warmth may last for up to 24 hours.
It is important to keep your skin clean after treatment and avoid touching your face as much as possible. It would be a good idea to ensure make up brushes have been thoroughly washed. It is advisable to avoid swimming, sunbeds, and other forms of facial treatments for 2 weeks after micro needling. The use of exfoliating creams and retinols should also be avoided within the first week. Sun protection is absolutely essential to avoid developing areas of hyperpigmentation. An after-care advice leaflet will also be offered to you after your treatment.
