When we think about lip fillers, the first thing that may spring to mind are big, unnatural, and dare I say it, 'duck like' lips. In reality, and in the hands of an expert who understands how facial balance works, this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many reasons someone may wish to have lip treatment. It may be that lines have developed around the lips which can be very ageing. A delicate lip treatment is very effective at softening these lines. Some of us may have a naturally fuller lip, whilst others may feel that theirs have always been a little thinner than they would like. Even the fullest of lips lose volume over time.
Lip fillers aren’t just for the young. They can be a fantastic way to rejuvenate and enhance your appearance at any age.
It is very normal to be apprehensive when considering a lip treatment, so we are here to help guide you through the process.
First thing first. When considering any aesthetic procedure, it is recommended to consult a medical professional who is highly experienced. No procedures are 100% risk free, therefore you need to be in the hands of an expert.
Depending on the type of lips you have, and your desired look, a specific dermal filler is gently and precisely injected into the lip tissue. This will result in restoration of volume loss, enhance your lip shape, in addition to creating definition and balance to the upper and lower lips.
The key to the perfect lip augmentation is attention to detail, an understanding of lip anatomy and by ensuring that we are all on the same page in terms of the desired outcome. This is where the free consultation comes in. Lesley will talk you through your desired outcome, and guide you through her recommendations in helping you to achieve your goal.
At LDR aesthetics, we specialise in natural enhancements. We take the time to understand exactly what you want, but will also advise on what is and isn’t possible to achieve a natural result (even if this means that at times, we advise against having treatment).
Lip fillers are a great way to increase volume. We also need to be realistic, however. If the lip tissue is particularly thin, it may take a few treatments over many months to increase volume safely and naturally.
The lip is a sensitive area; therefore, there are way to ensure that your treatment will be as comfortable as possible. A local anaesthetic is applied prior to your procedure and the dermal filler also contains an anaesthetic. People generally find it far more comfortable than they were expecting. Taking paracetamol before your appointment is also helpful.
Some swelling is normal after a lip treatment. This will resolve within 24-48 hours. Bruising may be present, and again, resolves within a few days. Anti-inflammatory and anti-coagulation medication can increase the risk of bruising, as can drinking alcohol. It is advisable to avoid treatment within 2 weeks of a special event .
