What can we do for you?
Almost everyone you know by now has either had or considered having lip fillers. So, what should you know before you let loose at the clinic?First and foremost, do some research. Asking friends for recommendations is often a good starting point. Google may also come in very handy, although it is worth bearing in mind that google can be a fickle beast, so may not show you every clinic in your area unless you search it by name. I would recommend always checking the credentials of the person you are planning to go to. Are they medical professionals, are they trained and insured to carry out aesthetic procedures and how much experience do they have?
These are all valuable questions when shopping around. Looking at client reviews can also be helpful.
Whilst lip fillers are very safe when performed correctly, there are some risks involved. It is absolutely vital that you choose an injector that is trained and competent at recognising and managing any problems. Again, it is ok to ask them this question before you go ahead with treatment.
When you have narrowed it down, call the clinics directly. They really won’t mind; in fact, most will prefer to speak to you before you book. Looking for clinics that offer a free consultation is worth considering too.
Price can often be a deciding factor, but cheaper doesn’t mean better. Premium fillers are expensive, and you are also paying for the skill and knowledge of your practitioner. Every clinic has a different price point, but as a guide, you can expect to pay anywhere from £200 to £300 for a lip filler treatment. I would hear alarm bells if it was anything less.
When you are confident that you have found the right person for you, have in mind the results you are looking for. Some people have photos of the lip type they like which can be helpful for your injector. A good practitioner will easily be able to tell you if that is achievable or will make recommendations that may be better suited to you.
Never feel rushed into making a decision if you are unsure. It is ok to have some cooling off time before committing to treatment.
The aftercare that is offered in clinic is as important as the procedure itself. Lip fillers can cause swelling and bumps in the early days of healing which can be alarming for some. You should be warned of this possibility at your consultation; however, you may need some extra reassurance. For this reason, make sure your injector is available to you after the treatment to answer any questions or to put your mind at rest. Do make sure that you know what aftercare the clinic offers and that you have a contact number should you need to speak to them.
Following these simple steps are the best way to ensure you have an enjoyable and stress-free aesthetic experience.
